Ideas to inspire

Mistie Melver's Miniature Dachshunds, Tsunade (pronounced sue na day) and Miley, are the inspiration behind her healthy homemade pet treats. Like many pet parents, she'd heard heartbreaking stories in the media of pets becoming ill and even dying after eating tainted pet treats. So, determined to provide the best for her pets, she started making safe, nutritious treats at home.
Before long, Mistie's family and friends were asking if she could make more treats for their pets; and a suggestion from her mom and the support of her husband led to the creation of her business, Doxielicious.
"My mom suggested that I set up my own business to sell my treats. She told me that if I felt so strongly about feeding my pets healthy treats, many other pet parents would feel the same way," she explains.
All Doxielicious dog treats are handmade with 100% human-grade ingredients with no artificial preservatives or flavors added. Unlike most homemade pet treats, they have a soft and chewy texture that makes them perfect for puppies and senior dogs.
Mistie strives to make her pet treats as healthy and tasty as possible, and it's a mission that drives her business. "I love being able to provide yummier, healthier treats for everyone's fur babies. I also love it when my customers post pictures or videos of their dogs dancing or getting super excited for my treats," she says.
"When it comes to her business, Mistie has big plans for the future. I hope to one day have a store front and be licensed in all 50 states. I’m also very excited to offer my pet treats on Art of the Pet’s website – I think it’s a great idea to have a one-stop shop for handmade pet products," she says.
When she isn't making delicious homemade dog treats, Mistie is an avid reader and enjoys camping and kayaking.
